Slieve Gullion is one of the most studied natural environments in Ireland, North or South. It has been granted the status of "Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty" (AONB) and lives up to that name. It has an ancient forest that has stood on the slopes of this extinct volcano since the end of the last Ice-Age and is a mountain of Myth and Legend!
